[Vegan Gains] Probably the dumbest argument against veganism would have to be plant sentience. Whenever anyone tries to convince me that broccoli has feelings I have a sudden urge to slice their throats open like a cucumber. People can be misinformed about things like nutrition. You know, not everyone’s going to be an expert around protein or micronutrients or iron and that’s understandable but does anyone honestly think that eating a salad is as morally reprehensible as brutally murdering a sentient being? It’s just an intuitive understanding that no one even has to think about. There’s a reason why you’ll cut open a watermelon without giving it a second thought but you won’t cut your dog or cat into little pieces. But as soon as I bring up the fact that they’re supporting the suffering and death of animals with their food choices, these assholes become plant rights activists. Well OK, if you’re so concerned with plants living a long happy life, how about I put you through a wood chipper and I use the pulp that comes out to fertilise the soil.
